Great Barr Methodist Church
We believe that our commitment to mission arises from God’s never ending care for his world. By mission we mean any way in which Christians are sent to share love. Sharing God’s love involves evangelism, social caring, and the struggle for justice; for us these are imperative, not options.
We rejoice that as members of the body of Christ in the Asbury Methodist Circuit at Great Barr, we are called to engage in God’s mission.
We seek to fulfil this calling by:
1. Nurturing a loving, caring Christian fellowship in which all may feel valued and welcome. Where all may find opportunities for deepening faith, worship and service.
2. Reaching out into the community to identify and serve the social needs of the local people.
3. Finding ways of communicating the challenge of the Gospel and sharing our faith with all but especially young people.
4. Working for the justice, peace and reconciliation in the world
5. Sharing in and supporting by all means possible the work of the Asbury Circuit.
Developing and utilising the necessary resources of money, property and personnel, and effective means of communication for the above task in all this work we will collaborate as far as possible with other churches in the area.
This Mission Statement is being linked with one for the whole circuit and the church is challenged to to review annually how different areas of the church's activities have lived up to its' calling.
Church Council
It is the purpose of the Church Council to lead the church in fulfilling its commitment to God's mission, as expressed in the Mission Statement.
